Bismillah hir rahman nir raheem

In the name of Allah, The Most Gracious and The Most Merciful

Abul Ala Maududi:
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate

Muhsin Khan:
In the name of Allah, The Most Gracious and The Most Merciful

Pickthall:
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful.

Dr. Ghali:
In The Name of Allah, The All-Merciful, The Ever-Merciful

Abdul Haleem:
In the name of God, the Lord of Mercy, the Giver of Mercy!

Muhammad Junagarhi:
شروع کرتا ہوں اللہ تعالیٰ کے نام سے جو بڑا مہربان نہایت رحم واﻻ ہے

Suhel Farooq Khan:
अल्लाह के नाम से जो रहमान रहीम है।

Abdullah Muhammad Basmeih:
Dengan nama Allah, Yang Maha Pemurah, lagi Maha Mengasihani.

عَبَسَ وَتَوَلَّىٰٓ

1.  Abasa wa tawallaa

The Prophet frowned and turned away

 

Yusuf Ali:
(The Prophet) frowned and turned away,

Abul Ala Maududi:
He frowned and turned away

Muhsin Khan:
(The Prophet (Peace be upon him)) frowned and turned away,

He frowned and turned away

Dr. Ghali:
He (The prophet) frowned and turned away,

Abdul Haleem:
He frowned and turned away

وه ترش رو ہوا اور منھ موڑ لیا

Suhel Farooq Khan:
वह अपनी बात पर चीं जबीं हो गया

Abdullah Muhammad Basmeih:
Ia memasamkan muka dan berpaling,

أَن جَآءَهُ ٱلۡأَعۡمَىٰ

2.  An jaa-ahul ‘a-maa

Because there came to him the blind man, [interrupting].

 

Yusuf Ali:
Because there came to him the blind man (interrupting).

Abul Ala Maududi:
that the blind man came to him.

Muhsin Khan:
Because there came to him the blind man (i.e. ‘Abdullah bin Umm-Maktum, who came to the Prophet (Peace be upon him) while he was preaching to one or some of the Quraish chiefs).

Pickthall:
Because the blind man came unto him.

Dr. Ghali:
That the blind man came to him.

Abdul Haleem:
when the blind man came to him––

Muhammad Junagarhi:
(
صرف اس لئے) کہ اس کے پاس ایک نابینا آیا

Suhel Farooq Khan:
और मुँह फेर बैठा कि उसके पास नाबीना गया

Abdullah Muhammad Basmeih:
Kerana ia didatangi orang buta.

وَمَا يُدۡرِيكَ لَعَلَّهُۥ يَزَّكَّىٰٓ

3.  Wa maa yudreeka la’allahu yaz zakkaa

But what would make you perceive, [O Muhammad], that perhaps he might be purified

 

Yusuf Ali:
But what could tell thee but that perchance he might grow (in spiritual understanding)?-

Abul Ala Maududi:
How could you know? Perhaps he would cleanse himself,

Muhsin Khan:
But what could tell you that per chance he might become pure (from sins)?

Pickthall:
What could inform thee but that he might grow (in grace)

Dr. Ghali:
And what makes you (The prophet) realize whether he (The blind man (Abdullah ibn Umm Maktûm) would possibly (try) to cleanse himself.

Abdul Haleem:
for all you know, he might have grown in spirit,

Muhammad Junagarhi:
تجھے کیا خبر شاید وه سنور جاتا

Suhel Farooq Khan:
और तुमको क्या मालूम यायद वह (तालीम से) पाकीज़गी हासिल करता

Abdullah Muhammad Basmeih:
Dan apa jalannya engkau dapat mengetahui (tujuannya, wahai Muhammad) ? Barangkali ia mahu membersihkan hatinya (dengan pelajaran ugama yang didapatinya daripadamu)! –

أَوۡ يَذَّكَّرُ فَتَنفَعَهُ ٱلذِّكۡرَىٰٓ

4.  Aw yazzakkaru fatanfa ‘ahuz zikraa
Or be reminded and the remembrance would benefit him?

 

Yusuf Ali:
Or that he might receive admonition, and the teaching might profit him?

Abul Ala Maududi:
or he might be mindful and good counsel might avail him.

Muhsin Khan:
Or that he might receive admonition, and that the admonition might profit him?

Pickthall:
Or take heed and so the reminder might avail him?

Dr. Ghali:
Or that he would constantly remember, and the Reminding would profit him?

Abdul Haleem:
or taken note of something useful to him.

Muhammad Junagarhi:
یا نصیحت سنتا اور اسے نصیحت فائده پہنچاتی

Suhel Farooq Khan:
या वह नसीहत सुनता तो नसीहत उसके काम आती

Abdullah Muhammad Basmeih:
Ataupun ia mahu mendapat peringatan, supaya peringatan itu memberi manfaat kepadanya.

أَمَّا مَنِ ٱسۡتَغۡنَىٰ

5.  Amma manis taghnaa
As for he who thinks himself without need,

 

Yusuf Ali:
As to one who regards Himself as self-sufficient,

Abul Ala Maududi:
Now he who waxes indifferent,

Muhsin Khan:
As for him who thinks himself self-sufficient,

Pickthall:
As for him who thinketh himself independent,

Dr. Ghali:
(But) as for him who thinks himself self- sufficient,

Abdul Haleem:
For the self-satisfied one

Muhammad Junagarhi:
جو بے پرواہی کرتا ہے

Suhel Farooq Khan:
तो जो कुछ परवाह नहीं करता

Abdullah Muhammad Basmeih:
Adapun orang yang merasa keadaannya telah cukup, tidak berhajat lagi (kepada ajaran Al-Quran),

فَأَنتَ لَهُۥ تَصَدَّىٰ

6.  Fa-anta lahu tasaddaa
To him you give attention.

 

Yusuf Ali:
To him dost thou attend;

Abul Ala Maududi:
you attend to him,

Muhsin Khan:
To him you attend;

Pickthall:
Unto him thou payest regard.

Dr. Ghali:
To him then you (are eager) to attend,

Abdul Haleem:
you go out of your way––

Muhammad Junagarhi:
اس کی طرف تو تو پوری توجہ کرتا ہے

Suhel Farooq Khan:
उसके तो तुम दरपै हो जाते हो हालॉकि अगर वह सुधरे

Abdullah Muhammad Basmeih:
Maka engkau bersungguh-sungguh melayaninya.

وَمَا عَلَيۡكَ أَلَّا يَزَّكَّىٰ

7.  Wa ma ‘alaika allaa yaz zakka
And not upon you [is any blame] if he will not be purified.

 

Yusuf Ali:
Though it is no blame to thee if he grow not (in spiritual understanding).

Abul Ala Maududi:
though you are not to blame if he would not cleanse himself.

Muhsin Khan:
What does it matter to you if he will not become pure (from disbelief, you are only a Messenger, your duty is to convey the Message of Allah).

Pickthall:
Yet it is not thy concern if he grow not (in grace).

Dr. Ghali:
And in no way is it up to you (if) he should not (try to) cleanse himself.

Abdul Haleem:
though you are not to be blamed for his lack of spiritual growth––

Muhammad Junagarhi:
حاﻻنکہ اس کے نہ سنورنے سے تجھ پر کوئی الزام نہیں

Suhel Farooq Khan:
तो तुम ज़िम्मेदार नहीं

Abdullah Muhammad Basmeih:
Padahal engkau tidak bersalah kalau ia tidak mahu membersihkan dirinya (dari keingkarannya).

وَأَمَّا مَن جَآءَكَ يَسۡعَىٰ

8.  Wa amma man jaa-aka yas’a
But as for he who came to you striving [for knowledge]

 

Yusuf Ali:
But as to him who came to thee striving earnestly,

Abul Ala Maududi:
But he who comes to you running,

Muhsin Khan:
But as to him who came to you running.

Pickthall:
But as for him who cometh unto thee with earnest purpose

Dr. Ghali:
And as for him who has come to you endeavoring (to cleanse himself),

Abdul Haleem:
but from the one who has come to you full of eagerness

Muhammad Junagarhi:
اور جو شخص تیرے پاس دوڑتا ہوا آتا ہے

Suhel Farooq Khan:
और जो तुम्हारे पास लपकता हुआ आता है

Abdullah Muhammad Basmeih:
Adapun orang yang segera datang kepadamu,

وَهُوَ يَخۡشَىٰ

9.  Wahuwa yakhshaa,
While he fears [Allah],

 

Yusuf Ali:
And with fear (in his heart),

Abul Ala Maududi:
and fears (Allah),

Muhsin Khan:
And is afraid (of Allah and His Punishment),

Pickthall:
And hath fear,

Dr. Ghali:
And he is apprehensive (of his Lord),

Abdul Haleem:
and awe

Muhammad Junagarhi:
اور وه ڈر (بھی) رہا ہے

Suhel Farooq Khan:
और (ख़ुदा से) डरता है

Abdullah Muhammad Basmeih:
Dengan perasaan takutnya (melanggar perintah-perintah Allah), –

فَأَنتَ عَنۡهُ تَلَهَّىٰ

10.         Fa-anta ‘anhu talah haa
From him you are distracted.

 

Yusuf Ali:
Of him wast thou unmindful.

Abul Ala Maududi:
you pay no heed to him.

Muhsin Khan:
Of him you are neglectful and divert your attention to another,

Pickthall:
From him thou art distracted.

Dr. Ghali:
Then of him you were being unmindful.

Abdul Haleem:
you allow yourself to be distracted.

Muhammad Junagarhi:
تو اس سے بےرخی برتتا ہے

Suhel Farooq Khan:
तो तुम उससे बेरूख़ी करते हो

Abdullah Muhammad Basmeih:
Maka engkau berlengah-lengah melayaninya.

كَلَّآ إِنَّهَا تَذۡكِرَةٞ

11.         Kalla innaha tazkirah
No! Indeed, these verses are a reminder;

 

Yusuf Ali:
By no means (should it be so)! For it is indeed a Message of instruction:

Abul Ala Maududi:
No indeed; this is only a Reminder.

Muhsin Khan:
Nay, (do not do like this), indeed it (these Verses of this Quran) are an admonition,

Pickthall:
Nay, but verily it is an Admonishment,

Dr. Ghali:
Not at all! Surely it is a Reminder.

Abdul Haleem:
No indeed! This [Quran] is a lesson

Muhammad Junagarhi:
یہ ٹھیک نہیں قرآن تو نصیحت (کی چیز) ہے

Suhel Farooq Khan:
देखो ये (क़ुरान) तो सरासर नसीहत है

Abdullah Muhammad Basmeih:
Janganlah melakukan lagi yang sedemikian itu! Sebenarnya ayat-ayat Al-Quran adalah pengajaran dan peringatan (yang mencukupi).

فَمَن شَآءَ ذَكَرَهُۥ

12.         Faman shaa a zakarah
So whoever wills may remember it.

 

Yusuf Ali:
Therefore let whoso will, keep it in remembrance.

Abul Ala Maududi:
So whoso wills may give heed to it.

Muhsin Khan:
So whoever wills, let him pay attention to it.

Pickthall:
So let whosoever will pay heed to it,

Dr. Ghali:
So, whoever decides will remember it.

Abdul Haleem:
from which those who wish to be taught should learn,

Muhammad Junagarhi:
جو چاہے اس سے نصیحت لے

Suhel Farooq Khan:
तो जो चाहे इसे याद रखे

Abdullah Muhammad Basmeih:
Maka sesiapa yang mahukan kebaikan dirinya, dapatlah ia mengambil peringatan daripadanya.

فِي صُحُفٖ مُّكَرَّمَةٖ

13.         Fi suhufim mukar rama,
[It is recorded] in honored sheets,

 

Yusuf Ali:
(It is) in Books held (greatly) in honour,

Abul Ala Maududi:
It is contained in scrolls highly honoured,

Muhsin Khan:
(It is) in Records held (greatly) in honour (Al-Lauh Al-Mahfuz).

Pickthall:
On honoured leaves

Dr. Ghali:
(It is) in Scrolls high-honored,

Abdul Haleem:
[written] on honoured,

Muhammad Junagarhi:
(
یہ تو) پر عظمت صحیفوں میں (ہے)

Suhel Farooq Khan:
(
लौहे महफूज़ के) बहुत मोअज़ज़िज औराक़ में (लिखा हुआ) है

Abdullah Muhammad Basmeih:
(Ayat-ayat Suci itu tersimpan) dalam naskhah-naskhah yang dimuliakan, –

مَّرۡفُوعَةٖ مُّطَهَّرَةِۭ

14.         Marfoo’atim mutah hara,
Exalted and purified,

 

Yusuf Ali:
Exalted (in dignity), kept pure and holy,

Abul Ala Maududi:
most exalted and purified,

Muhsin Khan:
Exalted (in dignity), purified,

Pickthall:
Exalted, purified,

Dr. Ghali:
Upraised, purified.

Abdul Haleem:
exalted, pure pages,

Muhammad Junagarhi:
جو بلند وباﻻ اور پاک صاف ہے

Suhel Farooq Khan:
बुलन्द मरतबा और पाक हैं

Abdullah Muhammad Basmeih:
Yang tinggi darjatnya, lagi suci (dari segala gangguan), –

بِأَيۡدِي سَفَرَةٖ

15.         Bi’aidee safara
[Carried] by the hands of messenger-angels,

 

Yusuf Ali:
(Written) by the hands of scribes-

Abul Ala Maududi:
borne by the hands of scribes,

Muhsin Khan:
In the hands of scribes (angels).

Pickthall:
(Set down) by scribes

Dr. Ghali:
By the hands of (serene) Scribes,

Abdul Haleem:
by the hands of

Muhammad Junagarhi:
ایسے لکھنے والوں کے ہاتھوں میں ہے

Suhel Farooq Khan:
(
ऐसे) लिखने वालों के हाथों में है

Abdullah Muhammad Basmeih:
(Terpelihara) di tangan malaikat-malaikat yang menyalinnya dari Lauh Mahfuz;

كِرَامِۭ بَرَرَةٖ

16.         Kiraamim bararah
Noble and dutiful.

 

Yusuf Ali:
Honourable and Pious and Just.

Abul Ala Maududi:
noble and purified.

Muhsin Khan:
Honourable and obedient.

Pickthall:
Noble and righteous.

Dr. Ghali:
Honorable, benign.

Abdul Haleem:
noble and virtuous scribes.

Muhammad Junagarhi:
جو بزرگ اور پاکباز ہے

Suhel Farooq Khan:
जो बुज़ुर्ग नेकोकार हैं

Abdullah Muhammad Basmeih:
(Malaikat-malaikat) yang mulia, lagi yang berbakti.

قُتِلَ ٱلۡإِنسَٰنُ مَآ أَكۡفَرَهُۥ

17.         Qutilal-insanu maa akfarah
Cursed is man; how disbelieving is he.

 

Yusuf Ali:
Woe to man! What hath made him reject Allah;

Abul Ala Maududi:
Accursed be man! How stubbornly he denies the Truth.

Muhsin Khan:
Be cursed (the disbelieving) man! How ungrateful he is!

Pickthall:
Man is (self-)destroyed: how ungrateful!

Dr. Ghali:
Slain be man! How disbelieving he is!

Abdul Haleem:
Woe to man! How ungrateful he is!

Muhammad Junagarhi:
اللہ کی مار انسان پر کیسا ناشکرا ہے

Suhel Farooq Khan:
इन्सान हलाक हो जाए वह क्या कैसा नाशुक्रा है

Abdullah Muhammad Basmeih:
Binasalah hendaknya manusia (yang ingkar) itu, betapa besar kekufurannya?

مِنۡ أَيِّ شَيۡءٍ خَلَقَهُۥ

18.         Min aiyyi shai-in Khalaq
From what substance did He create him?

 

Yusuf Ali:
From what stuff hath He created him?

Abul Ala Maududi:
Out of what did Allah create him?

Muhsin Khan:
From what thing did He create him?

Pickthall:
From what thing doth He create him?

Dr. Ghali:
Of whichever thing did He create him?

Abdul Haleem:
From what thing does God create him?

Muhammad Junagarhi:
اسے اللہ نے کس چیز سے پیدا کیا

Suhel Farooq Khan:
(
ख़ुदा ने) उसे किस चीज़ से पैदा किया

Abdullah Muhammad Basmeih:
(Tidakkah ia memikirkan) dari apakah ia diciptakan oleh Allah? –

مِن نُّطۡفَةٍ خَلَقَهُۥ فَقَدَّرَهُۥ

19.         Min nutfatin khalaqahoo faqaddarah
From a sperm-drop He created him and destined for him;

 

Yusuf Ali:
From a sperm-drop: He hath created him, and then mouldeth him in due proportions;

Abul Ala Maududi:
Out of a sperm-drop did He create him and then determined a measure for him,

Muhsin Khan:
From Nutfah (male and female semen drops) He created him, and then set him in due proportion;

Pickthall:
From a drop of seed. He createth him and proportioneth him,

Dr. Ghali:
Of a sperm drop He created him; so He determined him.

Abdul Haleem:
He creates him from a droplet, He proportions him,

Muhammad Junagarhi:
(
اسے) ایک نطفہ سے، پھر اندازه پر رکھا اس کو

Suhel Farooq Khan:
नुत्फे से उसे पैदा किया फिर उसका अन्दाज़ा मुक़र्रर किया

Abdullah Muhammad Basmeih:
Dari air mani diciptakanNya, serta dilengkapkan keadaannya dengan persediaan untuk bertanggungjawab;

ثُمَّ ٱلسَّبِيلَ يَسَّرَهُۥ

20.         Thummas sabeela yas-sarah
Then He eased the way for him;

 

Yusuf Ali:
Then doth He make His path smooth for him;

Abul Ala Maududi:
and then made the course of life easy for him,

Muhsin Khan:
Then He makes the Path easy for him;

Pickthall:
Then maketh the way easy for him,

Dr. Ghali:
Thereafter the way He eased for him,

Abdul Haleem:
He makes the way easy for him,

Muhammad Junagarhi:
پھر اس کے لئے راستہ آسان کیا

Suhel Farooq Khan:
फिर उसका रास्ता आसान कर दिया

Abdullah Muhammad Basmeih:
Kemudian jalan (baik dan jahat), dimudahkan Tuhan kepadanya (untuk menimbang dan mengambil mana satu yang ia pilih);

ثُمَّ أَمَاتَهُۥ فَأَقۡبَرَهُۥ

21.         Thumma amatahu fa-aqbarah
Then He causes his death and provides a grave for him.

 

Yusuf Ali:
Then He causeth him to die, and putteth him in his grave;

Abul Ala Maududi:
then He caused him to die and brought him to the grave,

Muhsin Khan:
Then He causes him to die, and puts him in his grave;

Pickthall:
Then causeth him to die, and burieth him;

Dr. Ghali:
Thereafter He makes him to die, so He entombs him,

Abdul Haleem:
then He causes him to die and be buried.

Muhammad Junagarhi:
پھر اسے موت دی اور پھر قبر میں دفن کیا

Suhel Farooq Khan:
फिर उसे मौत दी फिर उसे कब्र में दफ़न कराया

Abdullah Muhammad Basmeih:
Kemudian dimatikannya, lalu diperintahkan supaya ia dikuburkan;

ثُمَّ إِذَا شَآءَ أَنشَرَهُۥ

22.         Thumma iza shaa-a ansharah
Then when He wills, He will resurrect him.

 

Yusuf Ali:
Then, when it is His Will, He will raise him up (again).

Abul Ala Maududi:
and then, whenever He wishes, He will raise him back to life.

Muhsin Khan:
Then, when it is His Will, He will resurrect him (again).

Pickthall:
Then, when He will, He bringeth him again to life.

Dr. Ghali:
Thereafter when He (so) decides, He makes him rise again.

Abdul Haleem:
When He wills, He will raise him up again.

Muhammad Junagarhi:
پھر جب چاہے گا اسے زنده کر دے گا

Suhel Farooq Khan:
फिर जब चाहेगा उठा खड़ा करेगा

Abdullah Muhammad Basmeih:
Kemudian apabila Allah kehendaki dibangkitkannya (hidup semula).

كَلَّا لَمَّا يَقۡضِ مَآ أَمَرَهُۥ

23.         Kalla lamma yaqdi maa amarah
No! Man has not yet accomplished what He commanded him.

 

Yusuf Ali:
By no means hath he fulfilled what Allah hath commanded him.

Abul Ala Maududi:
Nay, but man did not fulfil what Allah had enjoined upon him.

Muhsin Khan:
Nay, but (man) has not done what He commanded him.

Pickthall:
Nay, but (man) hath not done what He commanded him.

Dr. Ghali:
Not at all! (Man) has not as yet performed what He has commanded him!

Abdul Haleem:
Yet mandoes not fulfil God’s commands.

Muhammad Junagarhi:
ہرگز نہیں۔ اس نے اب تک اللہ کے حکم کی بجا آوری نہیں کی

Suhel Farooq Khan:
सच तो यह है कि ख़ुदा ने जो हुक्म उसे दिया उसने उसको पूरा किया

Abdullah Muhammad Basmeih:
Janganlah hendaknya ia kufur ingkar lagi! Sebenarnya ia belum menunaikan apa yang diperintahkan kepadanya.

فَلۡيَنظُرِ ٱلۡإِنسَٰنُ إِلَىٰ طَعَامِهِۦٓ

24.         Falyanzuril insanu ilaa ta-amih
Then let mankind look at his food –

 

Yusuf Ali:
Then let man look at his food, (and how We provide it):

Abul Ala Maududi:
So let man just consider his food:

Muhsin Khan:
Then let man look at his food,

Pickthall:
Let man consider his food:

Dr. Ghali:
So, let (man) look into his food;

Abdul Haleem:
Let man consider the food he eats!

Muhammad Junagarhi:
انسان کو چاہئے کہ اپنے کھانے کو دیکھے

Suhel Farooq Khan:
तो इन्सान को अपने घाटे ही तरफ ग़ौर करना चाहिए

Abdullah Muhammad Basmeih:
(Kalaulah ia tidak memikirkan asal dan kesudahan dirinya), maka hendaklah manusia melihat kepada makanannya (bagaimana kami mentadbirkannya):

أَنَّا صَبَبۡنَا ٱلۡمَآءَ صَبّٗا

25.         Anna sabab nalmaa-a sabba
How We poured down water in torrents,

 

Yusuf Ali:
For that We pour forth water in abundance,

Abul Ala Maududi:
We poured water, pouring it in great abundance,

Muhsin Khan:
That We pour forth water in abundance,

Pickthall:
How We pour water in showers

Dr. Ghali:
(For) that We poured water in abundance, (Literally: with abundant pouring)

Abdul Haleem:
We pour down abundant water

Muhammad Junagarhi:
کہ ہم نے خوب پانی برسایا

Suhel Farooq Khan:
कि हम ही ने (बादल) से पानी बरसाया

Abdullah Muhammad Basmeih:
Sesungguhnya kami telah mencurahkan hujan dengan curahan yang menakjubkan.

ثُمَّ شَقَقۡنَا ٱلۡأَرۡضَ شَقّٗا

26.         Thumma sha qaqnal-arda shaqqa
Then We broke open the earth, splitting [it with sprouts],

 

Yusuf Ali:
And We split the earth in fragments,

Abul Ala Maududi:
and cleaved the earth, cleaving it asunder;

Muhsin Khan:
And We split the earth in clefts,

Pickthall:
Then split the earth in clefts

Dr. Ghali:
Thereafter We clove the earth in fissures, (Literally: in cloven “fissures”).

Abdul Haleem:
and cause the soil to split open.

Muhammad Junagarhi:
پھر پھاڑا زمین کو اچھی طرح

Suhel Farooq Khan:
फिर हम ही ने ज़मीन (दरख्त उगाकर) चीरी फाड़ी

Abdullah Muhammad Basmeih:
Kemudian kami belah-belahkan bumi dengan belahan yang sesuai dengan tumbuh-tumbuhan, –

فَأَنۢبَتۡنَا فِيهَا حَبّٗا

27.         Fa ambatna feeha habba
And caused to grow within it grain

 

Yusuf Ali:
And produce therein corn,

Abul Ala Maududi:
then caused the grain to grow out of it,

Muhsin Khan:
And We cause therein the grain to grow,

Pickthall:
And cause the grain to grow therein

Dr. Ghali:
So, therein We caused (the) grain to grow,

Abdul Haleem:
We make grain grow,

Muhammad Junagarhi:
پھر اس میں سے اناج اگائے

Suhel Farooq Khan:
फिर हमने उसमें अनाज उगाया

Abdullah Muhammad Basmeih:
Lalu Kami tumbuhkan pada bumi biji-bijian,

وَعِنَبٗا وَقَضۡبٗا

28.         Wa ‘inabaw-wa qadba

And grapes and herbage

 

Yusuf Ali:
And Grapes and nutritious plants,

Abul Ala Maududi:
together with grapes and vegetables,

Muhsin Khan:
And grapes and clover plants (i.e. green fodder for the cattle),

Pickthall:
And grapes and green fodder

Dr. Ghali:
And vines, and clover, (Or: reeds).

Abdul Haleem:
and vines, fresh vegetation,

Muhammad Junagarhi:
اور انگور اور ترکاری

Suhel Farooq Khan:
और अंगूर और तरकारियाँ

Abdullah Muhammad Basmeih:
Dan buah anggur serta sayur-sayuran,

وَزَيۡتُونٗا وَنَخۡلٗا

29.         Wa zaitoonaw wanakh la’
And olive and palm trees

 

Yusuf Ali:
And Olives and Dates,

Abul Ala Maududi:
and olives and palms,

Muhsin Khan:
And olives and date-palms,

Pickthall:
And olive-trees and palm-trees

Dr. Ghali:
And olives and palm trees,

Abdul Haleem:
olive trees, date palms,

Muhammad Junagarhi:
اور زیتون اور کھجور

Suhel Farooq Khan:
और ज़ैतून और खजूरें

Abdullah Muhammad Basmeih:
Dan Zaitun serta pohon-pohon kurma,

وَحَدَآئِقَ غُلۡبٗا

30.         Wa hadaa-iqa ghulba
And gardens of dense shrubbery

 

Yusuf Ali:
And enclosed Gardens, dense with lofty trees,

Abul Ala Maududi:
and dense orchards,

Muhsin Khan:
And gardens, dense with many trees,

Pickthall:
And garden-closes of thick foliage

Dr. Ghali:
And enclosed orchards with dense trees,

Abdul Haleem:
luscious gardens,

Muhammad Junagarhi:
اور گنجان باغات

Suhel Farooq Khan:
और घने घने बाग़ और मेवे

Abdullah Muhammad Basmeih:
Dan taman-taman yang menghijau subur,

وَفَٰكِهَةٗ وَأَبّٗا

31.         Wa faki hataw-wa abba
And fruit and grass –

 

Yusuf Ali:
And fruits and fodder,-

Abul Ala Maududi:
and fruits and pastures –

Muhsin Khan:
And fruits and Abba (herbage, etc.),

Pickthall:
And fruits and grasses:

Dr. Ghali:
And fruits, and grass, (Or: fodder)

Abdul Haleem:
fruits, and fodder:

Muhammad Junagarhi:
اور میوه اور (گھاس) چاره (بھی اگایا)

Suhel Farooq Khan:
और चारा (ये सब कुछ) तुम्हारे और तुम्हारे

Abdullah Muhammad Basmeih:
Dan berbagai buah-buahan serta bermacam-macam rumput, –

مَّتَٰعٗا لَّكُمۡ وَلِأَنۡعَٰمِكُمۡ

32.         Mata’al-lakum wa li-an’amikum
[As] enjoyment for you and your grazing livestock.

 

Yusuf Ali:
For use and convenience to you and your cattle.

Abul Ala Maududi:
all this as a provision for you and your cattle.

Muhsin Khan:
(To be) a provision and benefit for you and your cattle.

Pickthall:
Provision for you and your cattle.

Dr. Ghali:
An enjoyment for you and your cattle (
Ancam includes cattle, camels, sheep and goats).

Abdul Haleem:
all for you and your livestock to enjoy.

Muhammad Junagarhi:
تمہارے استعمال وفائدے کے لئے اور تمہارے چوپایوں کے لئے

Suhel Farooq Khan:
चारपायों के फायदे के लिए (बनाया)

Abdullah Muhammad Basmeih:
Untuk kegunaan kamu dan binatang-binatang ternak kamu.

فَإِذَا جَآءَتِ ٱلصَّآخَّةُ

33.         Faiza jaa-atis saakhah
But when there comes the Deafening Blast

 

Yusuf Ali:
At length, when there comes the Deafening Noise,-

Abul Ala Maududi:
But when the deafening cry shall be sounded

Muhsin Khan:
Then, when there comes As-Sakhkhah (the Day of Resurrection’s second blowing of Trumpet),

Pickthall:
But when the Shout cometh

Dr. Ghali:
Then when the Blast comes,

Abdul Haleem:
When the Deafening Blast comes––

Muhammad Junagarhi:
پس جب کہ کان بہرے کر دینے والی (قیامت) آجائے گی

Suhel Farooq Khan:
तो जब कानों के परदे फाड़ने वाली (क़यामत) मौजूद होगी

Abdullah Muhammad Basmeih:
Kemudian (ingatlah keadaan yang berlaku) apabila datang suara jeritan yang dahsyat, –

يَوۡمَ يَفِرُّ ٱلۡمَرۡءُ مِنۡ أَخِيهِ

34.         Yauma yafir-rul mar-u min akheeh
On the Day a man will flee from his brother

 

Yusuf Ali:
That Day shall a man flee from his own brother,

Abul Ala Maududi:
on the Day when each man shall flee from his brother,

Muhsin Khan:
That Day shall a man flee from his brother,

Pickthall:
On the day when a man fleeth from his brother

Dr. Ghali:
On the Day when a person will flee from his brother,

Abdul Haleem:
the Day man will flee from his own brother,

Muhammad Junagarhi:
اس دن آدمی اپنے بھائی سے

Suhel Farooq Khan:
उस दिन आदमी अपने भाई

Abdullah Muhammad Basmeih:
Pada hari seseorang itu lari dari saudaranya,

وَأُمِّهِۦ وَأَبِيهِ

35.         Wa ummihee wa abeeh
And his mother and his father

 

Yusuf Ali:
And from his mother and his father,

Abul Ala Maududi:
and his mother and his father;

Muhsin Khan:
And from his mother and his father,

Pickthall:
And his mother and his father

Dr. Ghali:
And his mother, and his father,

Abdul Haleem:
his mother, his father,

Muhammad Junagarhi:
اور اپنی ماں اور اپنے باپ سے

Suhel Farooq Khan:
और अपनी माँ और अपने बाप

Abdullah Muhammad Basmeih:
Dan ibunya serta bapanya,

وَصَٰحِبَتِهِۦ وَبَنِيهِ

36.         Wa sahi batihee wa baneeh
And his wife and his children,

 

Yusuf Ali:
And from his wife and his children.

Abul Ala Maududi:
and his consort and his children;

Muhsin Khan:
And from his wife and his children.

Pickthall:
And his wife and his children,

Dr. Ghali:
And his female companion, and his seeds, (Or: sons).

Abdul Haleem:
his wife, his children:

Muhammad Junagarhi:
اور اپنی بیوی اور اپنی اوﻻد سے بھاگے گا

Suhel Farooq Khan:
और अपने लड़के बालों से भागेगा

Abdullah Muhammad Basmeih:
Dan isterinya serta anak-anaknya; –

لِكُلِّ ٱمۡرِيٕٖ مِّنۡهُمۡ يَوۡمَئِذٖ شَأۡنٞ يُغۡنِيهِ

37.         Likul limri-im-minhum yawmaa-izin shaa nuy-yughneeh
For every man, that Day, will be a matter adequate for him.

 

Yusuf Ali:
Each one of them, that Day, will have enough concern (of his own) to make him indifferent to the others.

Abul Ala Maududi:
on that Day each will be occupied with his own business, making him oblivious of all save himself.

Muhsin Khan:
Everyman, that Day, will have enough to make him careless of others.

Pickthall:
Every man that day will have concern enough to make him heedless (of others).

Dr. Ghali:
Upon that Day every (single) person of them will have an affair that will preoccupy him.

Abdul Haleem:
each of them will be absorbed in concerns of their own on that Day-

Muhammad Junagarhi:
ان میں سے ہر ایک کو اس دن ایسی فکر (دامنگیر) ہوگی جو اس کے لئے کافی ہوگی

Suhel Farooq Khan:
उस दिन हर शख़्श (अपनी नजात की) ऐसी फ़िक्र में होगा जो उसके (मशग़ूल होने के) लिए काफ़ी हों

Abdullah Muhammad Basmeih:
Kerana tiap-tiap seorang dari mereka pada hari itu, ada perkara-perkara yang cukup untuk menjadikannya sibuk dengan hal dirinya sahaja.

وُجُوهٞ يَوۡمَئِذٖ مُّسۡفِرَةٞ

38.         Wujoo huny-yauma-izim-musfira;
[Some] faces, that Day, will be bright –

 

Yusuf Ali:
Some faces that Day will be beaming,

Abul Ala Maududi:
Some faces on that Day shall be beaming with happiness,

Muhsin Khan:
Some faces that Day, will be bright (true believers of Islamic Monotheism).

Pickthall:
On that day faces will be bright as dawn,

Dr. Ghali:
(Some) faces upon that Day will be shining,

Abdul Haleem:
on that Day some faces will be beaming,

Muhammad Junagarhi:
اس دن بہت سے چہرے روشن ہوں گے

Suhel Farooq Khan:
बहुत से चेहरे तो उस दिन चमकते होंगे

Abdullah Muhammad Basmeih:
Muka (orang-orang yang beriman) pada hari itu berseri-seri,

ضَاحِكَةٞ مُّسۡتَبۡشِرَةٞ

39.         Dahi katum mustab shirah
Laughing, rejoicing at good news.

 

Yusuf Ali:
Laughing, rejoicing.

Abul Ala Maududi:
and be cheerful and joyous.

Muhsin Khan:
Laughing, rejoicing at good news (of Paradise).

Pickthall:
Laughing, rejoicing at good news;

Dr. Ghali:
Laughing, (happy) at the glad tidings.

Abdul Haleem:
laughing, and rejoicing,

Muhammad Junagarhi:
(
جو) ہنستے ہوئے اور ہشاش بشاش ہوں گے

Suhel Farooq Khan:
ख़न्दाँ शांदाँ (यही नेको कार हैं)

Abdullah Muhammad Basmeih:
Tertawa, lagi bersuka ria;

وَوُجُوهٞ يَوۡمَئِذٍ عَلَيۡهَا غَبَرَةٞ

40.         Wa wujoohuy yauma-izin ‘alaiha ghabara
And [other] faces, that Day, will have upon them dust.

 

Yusuf Ali:
And other faces that Day will be dust-stained,

Abul Ala Maududi:
Some faces on that Day shall be dust-ridden,

Muhsin Khan:
And other faces, that Day, will be dust-stained;

Pickthall:
And other faces, on that day, with dust upon them,

Dr. Ghali:
And (some) faces upon that Day will be (covered) by resentment,

Abdul Haleem:
but some faces will be dust-stained

Muhammad Junagarhi:
اور بہت سے چہرے اس دن غبار آلود ہوں گے

Suhel Farooq Khan:
और बहुत से चेहरे ऐसे होंगे जिन पर गर्द पड़ी होगी

Abdullah Muhammad Basmeih:
Dan muka (orang-orang yang ingkar) pada hari itu penuh berdebu,

تَرۡهَقُهَا قَتَرَةٌ

41.         Tarhaquha qatarah
Blackness will cover them.

 

Yusuf Ali:
Blackness will cover them:

Abul Ala Maududi:
enveloped by darkness.

Muhsin Khan:
Darkness will cover them,

Pickthall:
Veiled in darkness,

Dr. Ghali:
Oppressed by gloom.

Abdul Haleem:
and covered in darkness:

Muhammad Junagarhi:
جن پر سیاہی چڑھی ہوئی ہوگی

Suhel Farooq Khan:
उस पर सियाही छाई हुई होगी

Abdullah Muhammad Basmeih:
Diliputi oleh warna hitam legam dan gelap-gelita. –

أُوْلَـٰٓئِكَ هُمُ ٱلۡكَفَرَةُ ٱلۡفَجَرَةُ

42.         Ulaa-ika humul-kafa ratul-fajarah
Those are the disbelievers, the wicked ones.
